Excuse my french ? A shortlist. Links from AEIOU (french version), and links that you might not find elsewhere :Archives > Juillet 2005Ben's holidaysPosté par Gflu le 25.07.05 à 18:00
Ben is cute. Ben has pretty little bouys around the arms. Ben is ready for the beach. Ben is a nice little boy. But the fact is : Ben won't go on holidays.I fell on this picture of Ben while idling on We make money not art. He made me a little sad, Ben, with his voluntary smile, slightly anxious, pointing at an invisible ocean. Ben, lonesome JPG on the wild wide web. As I showed the picture to my friends at Aeiou, we thought we could give him some pretty vacations, with your help - bloggers, webdesigners, all that jazz editors - we could invite him on a new URL, just for this summer. So he may swim in exotic layouts and make himself a bunch of new friends. And it'll give us some holidays too, at Aeiou... let's travel by procuration. Until the September fifth (back to school dues), we invite you to invite Ben (large size picture). We'll post here the postcards that he'll send us (we told you, he's such a good little guy) : numeric pictures, screenshots, short stories posted from farewell URL's. If he stays at your place, warn us via this formulary (head “Les vacances de Ben”) or by mail : aeiocrew (at) gmail.com. Have some nice holidays, Ben ! MAJ : Ben has been allready invited in Belgium, in VideoLand, on the Tour de France, at the MoMA, somewhere near a nice cascade etc. ! Follow his trip on this page : Les vacances de Ben. Schizoid BrainPosté par Life on Mars ? le 18.07.05 à 00:00
Team Chman (RIP) was a great studio in Lille. Among other things, they created Banja, nice and smokey online game. Today, ex-Chman people are going their way. Yuck for instance, just launched the new version of his Schizoid Brain. Twisted.
LINK The worst movie in the history of cinema...Posté par Sandor le 17.07.05 à 23:54
... is said to be Plan 9 from Outer Space, by Edward Wood Jr in 1959. An amazing story in which the producer's wife replaced Bela Lugosi when the actor finally decided not to play the role. Now this movie is available on the web : stream it or download it.
LINK Srebrenica : a European shame, ten years afterPosté par Sandor le 11.07.05 à 15:51
Exactly 10 years after Srebrenica massacres - 7 000 male muslim Bosnian people were killed by Bosnian-Serb forces on July 11th, 1995, in spite of so-called UN "protection zone"- International Justice Tribune (IJT) released a very interesting special feature on the issue, trying to analyse the work of international jurisdictions on the notion of "genocide" (in French AND in good English). Really good, well informed piece of news.
NB : You have to pay to subsribe to IJT, but 3 issues can be consulted for free. LINK Vincent Vella : Unwearable LightnessPosté par Life on Mars ? le 09.07.05 à 14:37
We are happy we chose Vincent Vella as a designer for Fluctuat.net's new layout (coming soon !). Vincent Vella realised - among other creations - the Tokyoskool for Palais de Tokyo and the website of the Batofar, fine place for electronic and live music in Paris. His last creation : a fashion défilé for Unwearable Lightness (orange cube on this page). Luxe, calme, et volupté.

... at last. Thanks to a precious vote of our beloved European Parliament yesterday. Besides, on many issues, the European Parliament seems to have much more progressive views than the European states' governements. That's one of the main reason why we supported the European Constitution : it would have allowed the European Parliament to vote almost all the European laws. Never mind : Europe is a great idea, still worth being fought a long time for it.
LINK Free software explained to my fellow European citizensPosté par Sandor le 06.07.05 à 00:40
Member of European Parliament (and also the main leader of French May 1968 "revolutionary" events) Daniel Cohn-Bendit, from the Green European Party, is definitely opposed to the European Commission policy against free software, and he tries to make understand his positions on this very technical issue to his fellow European citizens. For that matter, he and the Greens realized this small movie. Efficient, isn't it ?
LINK Money for nothingPosté par Gflu le 04.07.05 à 16:20
Thanks to David Fenech, I had the opportunity to see that eBay isn't surrealist only in the way it sells plenty of extravagant and/or stupid things for a few bucks, but as well because it sells Nothing (Rien) for quite a lot (750 €).
